Ambelopoulia raid in Limassol

Via the Cyprus Mail:

AROUND 1,000 dead blackcaps (ambelopoulia) and hundreds of song thrushes were discovered in four restaurants in various areas of Limassol yesterday, during a raid conducted by the Game Fund and the anti-poaching unit of the Rapid Reaction Unit (MMAD).

The two hour raid also netted other birds such as partridges.

The restaurant owners were arrested but according to Limassol police have yet to be charged, as they are awaiting test results which will establish the exact type of birds that were found.
