The Lesser Kestrel is a Vulnerable species across its range and especially in its Eastern European breeding range. It’s also very similar to the Common or Eurasian Kestrel in appearance, even though genetic analyses show that the two are not closely related members of the genus Falco. Some pass through Cyprus every Spring and Autumn en route to and from their wintering range in Sub-Saharan Africa.
