Cyprus Bird Tours

Together with Jane Stylianou, I’d like to announce that we’re now offering guided birding tours in the Republic of Cyprus. See below for details…

Cyprus Birding Guides

We are a pair of keen birders in Cyprus, who freelance as birdwatching tour guides. We are both experienced birders, and one or both of us goes out almost every weekend throughout the year. Any of the major birdwatching hot-spots in the Republic of Cyprus: we’re happy to take you there, show you bird species you’ve never seen before, and tell you a little about the lives and behaviors of the birds.

Rates are varying depending on the circumstances. Email us to inquire.

Our Guides

Dan Rhoads has been a keen birder since finishing university in the US about a decade ago. He has maintained the Migrations blog for 4+ years, writing about nature and especially birds, founded the Cyprus-Birding email discussion list, and is a supporting member of BirdLife Cyprus. Dan has a Ph.D. in cell biology from Cornell University (USA).

Jane Stylianou has been a keen birdwatcher since childhood in the UK, and has birded in Cyprus since moving here in 1985. Until recently she worked with BirdLife Cyprus and organised their Intro to Birds programme leading groups of visitors and locals on birdwatching walks. She contributed a monthly column on the birds of Cyprus to the Cyprus Mail newspaper and is the author of the recent publication from the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, The Birds of Cyprus. She has a M.A. in Values and the Environment from the University of Lancaster (UK).

Our Trips

We go to all parts of the Republic of Cyprus, and can tailor your outing to suit the species, habitats or locales that you want to see. If you are looking for specific species, our guides can suggest when and where to look; or if you are planning to visit at a specific time of year, we can suggest which areas are best to visit, or what birds you might see.

We schedule trips throughout the year, although timing trips with the Spring and Autumn bird migrations is highly recommended. Transportation, binoculars (if needed), and a spotting scope (for wetland habitats) can be provided for you, as needed.

Contact us today to schedule a trip.
