A Reasonable Proposition

Via Iron Wolf:

So my modest proposal is that believers, particularly those who hold to some form of presuppositionalism, finally come clean and publicly declare that they believe for no reason at all, and that they will henceforth no longer attempt to use reason, science, or anything that looks like them to back their claims. It is time for them to proudly assert that their claims not only need no backing: their claims, their articles of faith are axiomatic, and no evidence or argument can ever refute— or support— them. They just are.

And on a related topic, the theists are whining again, being stupid idiots, etc. Bob Crowther gives us circular reasoning at its finest:
They’re persecuted, because they’re unable to pony up the research, because they’re unable to get funded, because they spend all their money on propaganda production, because they’re persecuted, because they’re unable to pony up the research, because they’re unable to get funded, because they spend all their money on propaganda production, because they’re persecuted…
…oh, you get the idea.

My opinion – Religious political activists need to grow up, put up or shut up, and replace whining with action – it’s their refusal to do this that leads people like PZ, myself, and others to want to “involve some form of righteous fury, much butt-kicking, and the public firing and humiliation of some teachers,” not any righteous persecution.

Demonstrate simple reason and rational logic if you want respect (I know, it’s tough, but you can do it).
